About the Book
What if the body's limits aren't evidence of failure, but evidence of what kind of creature it was designed to be?
When the Body Remembers Eden brings modern biology into conversation with the Genesis creation story through eight dimensions of embodied life: light, breath, water, rhythm, rest, earth, union, and meaning.
Rather than treating human dependence, boundaries, rhythms, and biological needs as defects to overcome or inconveniences to manage, the book explores the possibility that they are characteristics of the kind of embodied creatures human beings are. At its center is a simple, searching idea: the human body was never designed for independence.
The book does not set out to prove the ancient story with modern science, and it does not promise that perfect habits will restore perfect health. Instead, it places the two side by side and asks what each may illuminate about our limits, our rhythms, our relationships, our environment, and the experience of living in a body.
